Chief Data Officer are essential in driving a culture of analytics in today’s modern enterprise. The International Institute of Analytics has developed a 5-stage model which maps the analytic maturity for an enterprise. CDO’s are tasks with increasing the data literacy and use of analytics, by having utilization and governance in their organisations.

A key objective for the office of the CDO is to move higher up the maturity curve and have the use of data grained into the fabric of how decisions are made, and analysis is done; in fact, studies show 99% of companies have an increased investment in AI and Big data, but only 24% of companies are reported to be data driven.

One of the core challenges that the other 76% of companies face, is the growing divide between the people and the technology. This translates into a growing divide between the data workers / scientists, and the rest of the org. the tax professionals, marketing analysts, sales managers etc. all have questions; the trick is to have the enterprise speaking the same language and removing the divide.
